Sutton Vane Associates designed the lighting for this pedestrian underpass that runs under the A11, beside the Lea Navigation in East London and close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The lights that throw light over the water, were designed to create reflections on the opposite wall and the ceiling. The lighting scheme is extremely efficient, despite the underpass being about 100 metres long it consumes only 650 Watts, which works out at 1.1 Watts/m2. All the lighting equipment is capable of withstanding flooding. The lighting design was Highly Commended in the Low Carbon category of the Lighting Design Awards.
