Mercers Hall Ambulatory and Chapel
The Ambulatory is a broad, low-ceilinged space with no natural light, which leads to the chapel. Previously it was dull and underused. Sutton Vane Associates designed a scheme that allows a huge range of uses. Now suitable for receptions, parties, presentations, meetings and gathering before entering the chapel, in day-today use it can now be lit entirely by LEDs, massively improving the atmosphere and versatility of the space. It is unusual for a historic interior to be lit entirely by LEDs. The energy consumption of the space is now one third of the previous scheme. Controls with both slider dimmers and scene-setting buttons allow the user to adjust the lighting to suit the occasion. Luke Hughes & Co designed and supplied new furniture and showcases and were project managers.
