National Museum of Oman
The National Museum of Oman is a new building in Old Muscat, Oman. Sutton Vane Associates designed the lighting of all the galleries, lecture theatres, educational and temporary use spaces. Plus all circulation and behind the scenes spaces such as laboratories, incubation rooms, offices and technical spaces. The practice also designed the lighting of the exterior and the spaces around the building.
There are many huge lanterns that were designed in cooperation with the architect to both light the grand spaces and reflect the aesthetics and style of the spaces. The scheme won the Public Lighting Project of the year at the 2017 Light Middle East Awards.
