St Clement Danes

Sutton Vane Associates designed the exterior lighting for the famous “Oranges and Lemons say the bells of St Clements” church in London. The church is the Central Church for the Royal Air Force and is often used for Lying in State and other high profile ceremonies. The lighting scheme shows off the wonderful architecture with no visible light fittings. The colour of cool white light was chosen to compliment the colour of the stone.

Sutton Vane Associates designed two decorative lampposts in front of the entrance. These add to the grandeur of the entrance, provide useful light for visitors and conceal spotlights that light the tower. The church was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and the tower is by James Gibbs. Sutton Vane Associates were then commissioned to light the inside of the church.
