St Paul’s Cathedral

Sutton Vane Associates were commissioned to create a temporary scheme for one night only at St Paul’s Cathedral, to raise awareness for Worlds AIDS Day. The Cathedral was first blacked out, then slowly, to the sound of beating drum, the lighting on the West front was gently brought up, stage by stage until the whole front and then the dome were all flooded in red light. The gold pineapples on the towers and the cross on the dome were lit with gold light to give emphasis and contrast. The project was covered widely by television and the press.
