Sutton Vane Associates were commissioned to write a strategy for the overall lighting of Hastings and St Leonard’s. Hastings has many wonderful buildings, amenities and spaces which are just as important at night time as they are during the day. Lighting these spaces makes the town more inviting and safer. SVA lit a number of famous buildings and landmarks across the town, including the White Rock Theatre, the Hasting Cliffs and the Royal Victoria Hotel. Each landmark was carefully lit to highlight its best features and give the town an attractive night scene. Specially designed luminaries were also created to provide interest to the sea front, including the Winds of Change which change colour as the wind direction changes. The scheme was highly successful and subsequently, SVA were commissioned to complete the lighting strategy for neighbouring Bexhill.
